Your Health and MSG

Could that delicious food your eating contain MSG and “Natural Flavor”?

Perhaps you should consider how you are feeling after you eat that packaged meal or load up at your favorite restaurant. Do you seem to have a headache and tight muscles in your neck and shoulders after you eat lunch and dinner?

Is it difficult for you to lose those extra pounds around your stomach?

Maybe it is time to become super aware of what you are eating!

It is just as important to consider what you are eating as it is what type of fuel you put in your car.  If there are chemicals damaging the engine (in this case the heart and brain and other vital organs), then it might be best to change what you consider to be food.

Your vitality, sense of well-being, muscle strength, intelligence ratio, and energy to meet your goals and live a fulfilling life can all be traced to the type of food you are eating.

Be especially careful when you purchase packaged food and many restaurant items.

Did you know that over 3 billion pounds of MSG are added to our food each year? 

Why do companies add MSG? Food that has been pre-cooked and packaged loses most of its taste and nutritional value. Often this packaged food is loaded with preservatives and “taste enhancers”. MSG (Monosodium Glutamate) and “Natural Flavors” (actually chemicals), which are added to make up for the fact that the food will lose its flavor after it is put in the packaging.

Also, many restaurant chains pre-package their food in a factory and ship it to your local restaurant. Some restaurants only have microwave ovens and heat up frozen dinners loaded with chemicals for your dining pleasure.

These “Natural Flavors” are whipped up in the laboratory and the magic they perform was in an expose shown on Nov. 27, 2011 on 60 minutes TV Show.

So what can you do about all the chemicals added to our food?

Take the time to shop consciously with full awareness of the food that is healthy for you! You are what you eat, and what you eat either irritates your system or re-builds your body each moment of the day.

What Can I Eat?

It is very simple. Eat food that is alive. Alive food includes fruit, vegetables, nuts and seeds. Learn how to make salads with mixed greens, cucumbers, avocados, tomatoes and free range, chemical free chicken, turkey, tuna or other fish.

You can make your own dressing of olive oil and vinegar (there are many different vinegar that can be used that have no chemicals in them.) Use pure spices – not the mixed blends that usually contain MSG. Add garlic, herbs such as rosemary, and perhaps a little wine to your vinegar (or buy wine vinegar).

Toss the dressing into the salad with a few blueberries or strawberries, unsalted walnuts and raisins, a sprinkling of crumbled Blue cheese, grated Parmesan or Goat cheese, and you will enjoy a delicious lunch or dinner.

Become interested in juicing. You will enjoy the fresh, delicious flavors of fruit and vegetables by juicing. (One of the top juicers is a 5-speed Breville.) You can use live ingredients, including apples, peaches, pineapple and blueberries blended with protein powder and a banana in the morning. You will feel terrific!

Take an interest in cooking and preparing food. There are so many great recipes online. Try them and have fun and feel alive with your live food!

Affects of eating food filled with MSG:

The Mayo Clinic mentions the symptoms of MSG reactions, known as MSG symptom complex include:

  • Headache
  • Flushing
  • Sweating
  • Facial pressure or tightness
  • Numbness, tingling or burning in the face, neck and other areas
  • Rapid, fluttering heartbeats (heart palpitations)
  • Chest pain
  • Nausea
  • Weakness
